First Call for Papers

The 12th “Harmony in Diversity” Scientific Conference is organized by the “Culture, Historical Heritage and Tourism” Department at the ULSIT in partnership with the Bulgarian Forum for Interreligious Dialogue and Partnership.

The Conference will be held in person or/and online in Sofia on the occasion of the Human Rights Day (December 10th) – the day the United Nations General Assembly adopted, in 1948, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

The conference aims to enable an academic dialogue between academic scholars and experts from the practice of topics such as:

  • human rights and their protection;
  • religious communities, religious dialogue, religious pluralism;
  • cultural dialogue, cultural influences, cultural transfer;
  • cultural differences and human rights
  • ethnic communities, ethnic cohabitation;
  • cultural differences as a value related to age, gender, race, religion, ethnic origin, physical or mental health, etc;
  • social distances and stereotypes;
  • the image of the Other

The interdisciplinary studies and practically oriented papers sharing experience and best practices are welcomed.

We encourage the participation of scholars, lecturers, postgraduates and doctoral students from universities and scientific institutes, experts from public sector and NGOs, leaders and members of religious and ethnic communities, media representatives and others.

Original papers, which not been presented in other forums and not been issued before, will be accepted.
Participation with one own and one joint paper is permissible. No participation or web access fees are required. Organizers
do not cover travel and accommodation costs.

Paper proposals will be selected by the Editorial Board of the “Harmony in Diversity” Series. Approved papers will be issued before the Conference in a peer-reviewed digital volume, indexed at the Central and Eastern European Online Library (CEEOL).

The texts of selected papers should be submitted by July 31st, 2025.

Important deadlines:

    • sending the paper proposal – April 25st, 2025;
    • notification of acceptance or rejection of proposals – May 25th, 2025;
    • sending of the selected papers – July 31th, 2025;
    • sending the Conference program – November 15th, 2025;
